Unique collaboration takes sealing and bolting to the next level
BUMAX and Technetics have begun an exciting partnership that brings customers added quality and assurance in their demanding bolting and sealing applications.
We speak with Energy market team leader at Technetics und Camille Feuillet, Development Manager at BUMAX about the new partnership between their two companies.
How would you summarize Technetics?
Adrien: Technetics is a 170-year-old French company that is today the global expert in high-performance sealing solutions. We deal with most demanding sealing solutions in industries such as nuclear, sub-sea and aerospace.
What makes Technetics unique?
Adrien: I would say that the fact that we offer comprehensive services beyond the manufacturing of seals makes us unique. We offer everything from initial simulations and the qualification of our sealing solutions to manufacturing them and carrying out the installation onsite.
How do Technetics and BUMAX collaborate?
Camille: Adrien and I began collaborating in 2021 after we saw that both our companies were delivering demanding solutions to the same kind of customer and sectors in France. Our strategic collaboration has stepped up in recent years. This is not only a win-win collaboration for both our companies but also our customers who can get better solutions.
Adrien: At Technetics, we have assessed complex assemblies using BUMAX bolts for customers and sourced BUMAX fasteners ourselves on a project. Typically, however, we recommend BUMAX to customers that have fastener issues or a need for very high-strength or temperature-resistant stainless steel fasteners.
How do Technetics and BUMAX products complement each other?
Camille: Just like BUMAX, Technetics has branded solutions that are unique in the industry, such as HELICOFLEX® high-performance seals. As these seals often need very high compression, our BUMAX fasteners with excellent mechanical strength are the perfect match. In this way, our products can complement each other to create outstanding customer sealing and bolting solutions.
Can you give an example of a recent project where Technetics and BUMAX products have been combined?
Adrien: At Technetics, we have been developing an airtight container solution for nuclear waste in France since around 2018. The deep borehole disposal solution will involve stacking 1,200 steel containers on top of each other deep underground. The demanding customer tests included a drop test where the container must remain completely sealed after being dropped from a height of nine meters.
Camille: Thanks to the combination of our excellent seal and bolting solution, we passed this demanding drop test and were approved for the project. This is a significant commercial opportunity for both of our companies, and we can contribute to ensuring the safe long-term storage of nuclear waste for society.
How would you like to see the BUMAX- Technetics collaboration develop in the future?
Adrien: Sealing and bolting solutions go perfectly together. We would like to propose joint premium sealing and bolting customer offerings. At Technetics, we can confirm that our seals will meet the customer’s requirements but in collaboration with BUMAX, we would be able to offer full warranty for tightness on entire assemblies. This will be hugely valuable for our customers as it would provide them with peace of mind in terms of tightness.
Camille: I agree – this would really give our customers greater control over their application. Our sales and marketing teams began working together in 2024 and I would like to see greater collaboration across our businesses in the future to capitalize on opportunities in countries around the world.
