Seal Coatings

Technetics Group metal seals can be coated with a wide variety of materials. Coating selection is usually based on system fluid compatibility and temperature.

Metal seals are sensitive to misalignment. Gland surfaces need to be parallel and of the correct dimensions. As misalignment increases, seal performance decreases.

Applications

Applications include pumps, valves, flanges and related devices in aircraft, marine, nuclear and space systems. Technetics Group is a major supplier of seals for the Space Shuttle program, EELV, and has numerous applications on aircraft engines and satellites.

Seal Coatings

Technetics Group manufactures several standardized styles of seals with various coating options for specific applications. The following selection criteria list is a guide to assist in seal style choice. You may also contact our application engineers for a recommendation.

1100

  • Liquid systems under 1500 psi
  • Pressure balanced design does not become tighter with increased pressure
  • May be used in pressure reversing applications
  • Flange load 75 to 140 pounds per inch of circumference

8100/8101

  • Liquid systems up to 6000 psi
  • Pressure sensitive, becomes tighter with increasing pressure
  • 8100 for internal pressure, 8101 for external pressure
  • Flange load 80 to 120 pounds per inch circumference

9100/9101

  • Liquid or gas systems up to 10,000 psi
  • Pressure sensitive, becomes tighter with increasing pressure
  • 9100 for internal pressure, 9101 for external pressure
  • Flange load 150 to 250 pounds per inch

9300/9301

  • Liquid or gas systems up to 10,000 psi
  • Gland size allows use of inexpensive ‘O’ Rings for system check-out testing
  • Pressure sensitive, becomes tighter with increasing pressure
  • 9300 for internal pressure, 9301 for external pressure
  • Flange load 150 to 250 pounds per inch of circumference
