HELICOFLEX® TEXEAL® Texturized Seal Concept and Overview

HELICOFLEX® TEXEAL® Texturized Seal Concept and Overview

Technetics Group was the first to create the texturized seal concept with the goal of addressing issues with a metallic solution. Texturization has made many advances in the last few years and is now worldly applied thanks to Technetics’ innovation.

The process is simple, fast and reliable. Once the HELICOFLEX® TEXEAL® was designed, there was a series of tests conducted including varying pressures, nuclear conditions, temperatures and more. The HELICOFLEX® TEXEAL® concept allows for the highest seal performance due to its unique design, metallic properties, and rigorous testing.

HELICOFLEX® Spring Energized Seal

HELICOFLEX® Resilient Metal Seal

HELICOFLEX® Resilient Metal Seal

The HELICOFLEX® seal is a high performance, flexible metal seal that has exceptional compression and elastic recovery properties. This seal is composed of a close wound helical spring surrounded by one or more metal jackets. The spring is designed to have a specific compression resistance. During compression, the resulting specific pressure forces the jacket to yield and fill the flange imperfections while ensuring positive contact with the flange sealing faces. Each coil of the helical spring acts independently and allows the seal to conform to surface irregularities on the flange surface.

HELICOFLEX® design flexibility allows Technetics engineers to customize the seal characteristics to match each unique application.

HELICOFLEX® DELTA Resilient Metal Seal

HELICOFLEX® DELTA Resilient Metal Seal

The HELICOFLEX® DELTA seal is a member of the HELICOFLEX® family of spring-energized seals. It is a unique sealing solution using two small ridges or “Deltas” on the face of the seal. The load required to plastically deform the jacket material is greatly reduced by concentrating the compression load on the Deltas. The resulting high-contact stress in the seal track makes the HELICOFLEX® DELTA seal an excellent choice for ultra-high vacuum applications that require ultra-low Helium leak rates. There is typically no risk of damaging the flange sealing surfaces as long as the minimum hardness requirements are maintained.

Features & Benefits

  • Highest sealing level performance on the market, depending on the seal jacket, the cavity/flange finish, the bolting, the hardware robustness and the cleanliness level
  • Ø 1.9 to 6.4 mm cross-section
  • Adaptable to all types of sealing surfaces
  • Adaptable to all flange standards (PNEUROP,ANSI, ISO, and more): no limitation on flange materials, allowing the seals to be used on metal flanges as well as ceramic, glass-lined and glass flanges
  • Wide material choices: from standard to specific and rare (see details below in “Specifications” section)

Product Applications

  • Ultra-high vacuum
  • Space
  • Semiconductor

For the following industries:

  • Research laboratories
  • Fusion
